This study was to investigate the optimal protion and time for measuring Newborn baby's body temperature. The temperature was measured from newborn babies(1-8 days, 31 males, 30 females) who were hospitalized in two general hospital in Pusan. The
average birth weights of subject was 3288.2gm(2600-4100gm). The data were collected from September, 23, 1992 to January, 16, 1993.
@ES The results was as follows:
@EN 1. Th average of the maximal temperature were 37.20¡É, 37.02¡É, 36.95¡É, 36.94¡É when these were measured at rectal, the skin to mattress, femoral, axillary, respectively. These values were statistically significant (P<0.001).
2. The times to reach the maximal temperature were 7.3, 7.0, 7.0, 4.6 minutes when these were measured at axillary, femoral, the skin to mattress, rectal, respectively.
3. The optimal placement times for measuring temperature were 11, 12, 12, 7 minutes when these were measured at axillary, femoral, the skin to mattress, rectal, respectively.
